Hey yo okay finally thought of what Ignis does during the timeskip wow

All of this is dependent on what Zach will let me get away with

I was having a really hard time thinking of what happens to him because he’s a very introverted person? Like, he’s friendly and generally nice and pleasant to be around, but he almost always automatically assumes that nobody outside of the party wants to be around him—and even then it’s really only Fiona and Nyot who actively want to spend time with him. Ignis is okay with this, he’s not super bothered by it and he doesn’t complain, but anyway this kind of personality and worldview make it really hard to develop his character over the two-year timeskip without putting him in some really contrived situations that wouldn’t make sense at all.

So here’s what I’m doing

I want him to still be kind of a doctor/medical person but he doesn’t solely work for mercenaries anymore and his clinic has moved above ground—it’s actually in the Keep now? It’s still fairly small and he has way less business than he did when he was a merc-doctor but I don’t want Ignis to give up what he does. It just wouldn’t make sense.

Now, I’m changing Ignis’ alignment from Neutral Good to Chaotic Good. The thing is that Caldera (our city-campaign-setting-place) recently lost its queen (lol we killed her she was possessed by a demon) and now the entire city—and it’s the capital of the entire world—is being run by the Councillors. But since they need a unanimous vote in order to pass laws they can’t get anything done. Adria wants Fox to get really into politics (at least I’m pretty sure that’s still the case) and I don’t want to sound like I’m trying to take away from that—I’m not.

Basically what I want to have happen is Ignis becomes really vocal about certain issues—particularly things like class division and racism. So far as I know there are only two Tieflings who have achieved “Protector” status (i.e. really really minor nobility): one of them is Asmola and she’s the High Inquisitor, the other one is Ignis. And I know for sure there aren’t any Tieflings of higher status than that. Now I get the feeling that because she’s High Inquisitor Asmola is really unapproachable to regular people. We (being the party of PCs) are the exception because we’re the PCs and PCs are always the exception, but I’m guessing the average person really wouldn’t get a lot of opportunities to talk to Asmola ever. So, conversely, Ignis is very approachable. He’s not totally comfortable with his new status and navigating the convoluted world that is politics really intimidates him so he doesn’t want a hell of a lot to do with that. He conducts himself like he’s still just a regular person and he doesn’t think anything’s really changed (except people call him serah now and he wants them to stop but they won’t).

But anyway the tl;dr version of this is that people talk to Ignis (usually people of other races facing similar prejudices) and he starts taking the initiative in bringing these issues to light. Like he was always aware that the class and racial divisions in Caldera were super unfair but now he can actually do something about it.
